I like giving gifts out when they aren’t expected, but receiving always gives me anxiety.. I much more appreciate a cool activity or outing with whoever than anything material they could buy me

it's so nice to give someone a little present based on their interests or just something you cooked/baked, it makes my heart fill with joy <3 i hope people love it

that usually includes a robust list of what they do/are passionate about, which will give you a good jumping off point.
HOWEVER, I am also a big fan of renegade gifting. the most treasured items I’ve ever received as gifts are things that I’d never buy for myself (and therefore would never ask for) but are things the gift giver associates with me.
my mom gave me a calmansi tree one Christmas to remind me of my childhood in the Philippines. one of my bffs got me a handmade leather journal with the last sentence of my thesis stamped in the cover when I graduated. my ex got me pottery classes at a local studio and handmade a fun gift certificate for my last birthday.
I love to give books bc that’s what I’m passionate about, and it can be a fun way to mix my personality with the receiver. the best part about receiving a gift is feeling truly seen by the person

a big pet peeve I have is people complaining about not having community or only having ā€œparty friendsā€ etc BUT are they inviting their existing friends or acquaintances to go out for dinner, go thrifting, watch tv, book club, people watch, day trip, mulberry picking? no, they are not. are they introducing their friends to each other? also not. i hate to be a clichĆ© sometimes you gotta put some work into having the relationships you long for. plus: you’re part of the problem. AND have some appreciation for the friends you have instead of focusing so much in what you don’t.

Nothing annoys me more about the American culture than the lack of enthusiasm. If I invite you to go somewhere and your answer is ā€œsureā€ or ā€œwhy notā€, I’m taking it back. I do not wanna be surrounded by indifferent people. It’s unworthy.
