The 1 hour pilot made for the TV program "The Sweeney" which would later go on to be one of the most popular shows in British history. Its fantastic; Gritty, vulgar, realistic and number of other adjectives. The writing by Ian Kennedy Martin is superb, all the characters feel real and believable, whilst still maintaining an air of "goodies vs baddie" heroism deep within. The cinematography is also brilliant, artistic and expressive at time but in a utilitarian way. Every scene is shot with purpose and keeps the audience both well informed and well captivated

There's never been a better setting for a pitch black noir gangster film than the slag heap wasteland of Northeast England in the 1970s. Caine miraculously finds a emotional center in an otherwise duplicitous, amoral bastard of anti-hero. If you catch the remastered version then I envy you.

A prime Schwarzenegger movie with a criminal justice premise that isn't that crazy in today's America.
I'm genuinely surprised they haven't remade it yet.

Peter Yates, director of "Bullitt" made this gritty crime drama about a down-and-out, two-bit criminal played by Robert Mitchum. His character, Eddie Coyle, finds himself in a real bind and spends the movie desperately trying to get himself out of it. How it all transpires feels as realistic as it could get. Every minute feels like it actually happened. Again, another movie from that great decade from 1967 to 1977. Recommended!
