i’m usually not a documentary person but i really enjoyed this one. it’s about sally ride (the first american woman to go to space) but mainly focuses on her personal life and relationships. they interview a lot of people who knew her, but primarily her partner, tam. it’s really sweet and i definitely got emotional a couple times.

•Bloodsisters (1995):Great documentary about the San Francisco leather dyke scene in the 90s, amazing look into personal dynamics, terminology, you also get to see the 93 Washington gay and lesbian march as well as the Ms. Leather pageant. Michell Handelman truly preserved something special
•Wojnarowic:F**k you f*ggot f**ker(2020)- a pretty recent doc that truly shows the brutality of the Regan administration to the gay community during the AIDS crisis and also give roses to one of the most criminally underrated artist of that time. The title is also pulled directly from David’s paintings born from a homophobic doodle he found on the sidewalk.

“Pre-AIDS gay media always makes me emotional. Unabashedly living as queer in the face of everything makes me emotional. I love the intimacy of this documentary so much. It's so casual and the camera revels in the queens' presence it feels like I could reach through the screen and touch them and then I get emotional again that I cannot. Crystal LaBeija, one of the most influential queens in history, you will always be loved and your legacy is your true win. I love queer flaboyancy and homosexual sensability. Not only have we always been here, but some of us have even always dared to live as we naturally are.”
