long story short, it is an amalgamation of people screwing up the name Jihye (ģ§ķ), which means āwisdomā in Korean, followed by some more screw ups and attempts to placate Americans instead of saying someoneās real name right š
from that i learned that, having a difficult name to pronounce in your childhood kinda sucks, so i am a judger of people who chose to name their kids in a fashion like mine.

anyways, my legal names arenāt english, my first name is greek and loosely translates to angel and i was named after my paternal grandmother, my middle name is arabic and i was named after my great grandmother on my mumās side, and then my last name is greek and is the direct translation to an animal

ši have a name that has been fucked with and interpolated a lot (long story). i have had ideas since middle school to change my name to like Harley, use my middle name, or recently during a breakdown something closer to it with easier spelling. it got to the point where my psychiatry appointments are actually done in that fake name and i just chose not to tell them š
all this to say, my name has grown on me and i would feel uncomfortable to change it. BUT, i would never want to have my future children experience the annoyance of people mispronouncing their name for the rest of their lives.

šback in school i used to help or hinder my teachers based purely on their first impression when they did the first registration call.
they'd get to about the middle of the list and just pause. and i knew. i knew it was me.
if good vibes - i'd raise my hand and put them out of their misery
if bad vibes - nothing about my expression would betray my position even in the slightest. you would think i was under the impression that i have the most straighforward, easily pronouncable name in existence. and then i would make them guess. guess until they got somewhere close enough for me to go "oh, i think thats me?"

idk how i came across this in my daily wikipedia surfs, but something about this painting just amuses me so much.
my first impression was this looks fairly modern in a way, possibly because of the composition and how she made her features so light and bouncy. it oddly made me think of disney when i looked for longer. then i see it was made in 1909 š
this painting can transcend times and i wouldnāt truly know when it was made unless i looked more closely at the objects around the subject. but even that can be a stretch as vintage items can be popular amongst anyone and they can just have their vanity setup look like this.
i tried looking for photographs of her online but alas nothing came up with certainty.

i saw something on here a day ago about how fireflies are disappearing and lightly catastrophized the scenario. but then as i regulated myself i looked up an article lightly extinguishing my concerns.
so as i look at the copious little flickers out my window, ill be glad to tell you that while firefly populations are decreasing, some firefly species are adapting to new environments trying to prosper and evolve. big causes for their decline are obvi climate change, urbanization, and light pollution. a simple way for you to not make things bad for the fireflies in your area is to not use pesticides on your lawns if you have them. they spend most of their lives in the ground so it starts at the soil.
additionally, every article i see with the salacious title about ālast generation to see firefliesā seems to be blocking out a lot of things about current firefly populations. most of the fireflies on the IUCN red list they keep mentioning are marked vulnerable or least concern. so there is a possibility a species or more of fireflies may disappear, but all of them i donāt think so.
