This was a MAJOR struggle of mine when I was younger, one thing that I was told that I didn’t fully understand until I got older is that any kind of love requires patience. My 13 year old self thought he had it but began to truly understand it and implement it into my life when I was 21, and only then did I realize patience not only meant being patient, it also meant forgiving yourself too.

I keep thinking I figured it out and then I betray myself in new and creative ways 😃 I think ppl r onto something with treating urself how you’d treat someone else u love but the hard part is then receiving that love as urself. like what do we do abt that. bc I would never listen to me

By realizing you’ve always done the best you could with the tools you’ve had. By forgiving yourself. By looking at your inner self as a child and giving them all the love they never were.

Try not to allow for any unnecessary guilt. In my experience that stuff can smother you if you forget to let it slide off every so often. You are doing your best.

After seeing therapis, i started to set boundaries and learn how to stop being a people pleaser, that eventually I couldn’t care less about how others think of my actions and decisions. And when the moment when I finally stop giving a single ffk, I have realized how much I respect and love myself.

i’ve been fighting that fight my whole life. something that helps me is kinda being my own bestfriend. when no one else has me, i do. nobody knows me like me. i’m the first and last person i‘ll ever have. this is not very helpful advice, but it makes me feel less lonely lol

i don't actually know, but some advice i heard from my sister is that loving yourself and others is the same motion, and you gotta love other people, not be envious of some condition, but to find things about them that you really respect, especially the people that you hate and resent.

give others what you can’t give yourself: grace, love, sympathy, acceptance, whatever it is. It’s the first step of many but it will help you along the way. Focus your thoughts outward more than inward and you will blossom 🌸

@WORLDONFIRE Just came here to second this. Practicing loving others, eventually enables you to love yourself. It's a long road. But it pays off. Speaking from experience.

dedicate your day to only radiating, feeling and expressing love toward people, things, thoughts, ideas etc. start easy - literally take inventory of people you love, your pets, favorite bands and restaurants. look around your home and love all your belongings. go outside and love the bus driver and the person in line ahead of you at the deli. at some point that love goes back inward!
how you feel about yourself is how you feel about others AND vice versa. if you are critical and judgmental of people you will do it to yourself. if you approach people with a general “oh i like them! they’re nice” approach you will feel that way about yourself too. if you struggle with self esteem and viewing yourself negatively the first step is to love others and seek out their good qualities and that will become your mindset toward yourself
feeling love / positivity is a muscle and a habit that you need to reinforce, but it is really hard to feel that inwardly if you are frustrated and annoyed with external factors.
