NOT COMPLAINING
I’m currently on the road for a few days in a van with 4 other people and no AC. I’m trying to embrace this as an opportunity to practice keeping my mouth shut every time I have the urge to complain. I can fall into fixating on my suffering pretty easily and I want to get out of that habit. we’re all uncomfortable, and at the end of the day I’m really lucky to be traveling with friends doing what I love.

I just got back from touring in a van with 5 other people and know how hard it is, try to enjoy the little things while you can!! it'll be gone before you know it.

The mix of fear and adventure Driving through the night blasting your music with the windows cracked open just enough for the cold breeze to swipe against your face while having the car heater set on your hands and feet, smoking j after j to keep you up while you let the random thoughts come and go from your stupid little head. Practicing pushing the unproductive thoughts away. Very hard for me, they get stuck all the time, but I WILL keep practicing

Treat yourself
Can I just tell you—I’m on a motorcycle road trip and I brought stuff to camp overnight without a tent. After 5 hours of riding (2 of them in the hot armpit of New Jersey) I decided to get a hotel instead. Just lol’d to myself while taking an incredible hot shower…. “….Sleep without a tent?!!?”
i don’t even know if this is a treat given shelter is a basic human need, but here is your permission to splurge a little bit. It’s worth it!

HARD BOILED WONDERLAND AND THE END OF THE WORLD
Favorite book by my favorite author, it got me back into my childhood love of reading after a long hiatus in college. Wonder is my favorite feeling and Murakami really knows how to imbue a story with it. You do have to put up with him being a perverted freak on every other page but it’s worth it in my opinion.

I sometimes worry that people think I do this to be quirky but actually I just really feel the weight of making sure this little guy is having a good life on my shoulders. it takes a lot of patience and occasionally results in disaster, but it’s worth it.
