🔍 Well, that was the time you offered me a sweater. Saying you didn’t want to turn the heat on because your mama raised you better. It’s funny to think that mine did too. There was also the time I stayed over until the sun came up watching reality TV with you. That night you put your head in my lap, and like a virgin it turned me on. I never told you that. That’s because you were already gone. You also serenaded me and let me record. Only three songs in and I was obliviously yours. There’s a million other reasons, but one of the big ones was what you said to me the first time we made love. You took off my glasses and you called me beautiful. I looked at you then, never having felt so vulnerable. Never having been called that, I couldn’t help but resist it. I called you a liar, but you insisted. I couldn’t believe there was a world in which that word and I coexisted.

When looking up in a densely packed forest, i find there is so much beauty in the cracks where the sunlight escapes between a canopy of trees. Like maps of rivers, or veins in the arm, the space between has so much merit in its own and more, so many stories to tell. I love looking up! We should all make more of a habit of it! Wings of desire!
