my best friend since 4th grade and i just took a trip to san diego. we met some people at music festival and we all talked over the weekend and got along and got to know each other. i learned that im an indirect person. i thought about how many times someone asked me if i wanted something and i said “either way” or “whatever is easiest” — so many of those times i had a yes/no answer that i held back. And for what? you can’t get what you want if you always leave it up to others to decipher what that is or to decide for you. im working on being more honest with myself and the people around me, and of course still trying to be thoughtful and considerate in the process

I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to say, “Good and you?” when someone asks, “How are you doing?” Not me. I love taking this opportunity to honestly unload exactly where I’m at on the ever swinging pendulum that is my constantly shifting emotional/psychological/spiritual state. Try being completely transparent next time someone cracks open this door to a potentially true human connection.

I can 100% relate - i’ll desperately want to become friends with people but i’m very introverted with people i dont know and then very chatty later on - people always apparently think i look tired and like i don’t want to talk to anyone when that’s really not the case
one thing that has helped me is literally just telling people that you don’t hate them youre just introverted or not a very high energy person - this doesn’t have to be some big serious declaration - i’ve found that if you bring it up in a light hearted manner it often leads to more open conversations

you can arrange chocolate chips to look like a face and then after they’re done you get to have a “baby pic” and a “grown up“ one and it’s very nice, very cute, very demure
