i have dreams that i am eating dinner with everyone i have ever loved. my mom is there, as beautiful as ever, proud of me for something i do not know. my dad is there, his young face and favorite baseball hat, laughing with an unspoken sense of happiness and lack of burden. no one is disappointed in me, not even god himself. all my friends are there, nobody feels like a stranger. no one tells me i look like im falling behind. my heart is full. you’re there too, wearing your blue overalls and your brown newsboy hat, looking directly at me with that smile only i know. my life is complete. i do not long for something more like love or accomplishment, and i cry from only contentment.
and only there am i not afraid of anyone leaving.
