I got a new arrival today, a triple pack of "Shoestring Slashers". I cannot wait to check these out. Shoestring slashers are RIGHT up my alley, and these look like that perfect spot of "not very good, but gosh they sure are trying"
just saw until dawn yesterday, which reminded me how much i love a good ol' classic slasher film. bunch of dumb college kids, a vacation in the middle of nowhere, and a blood-hungry killer on the loose- simple yet entertaining.
I’m still watching them even tho October is over wtf??? I just can’t get enough. Recent greats include:
Noroi: The Curse (2005)
- Found footage… the climax is so good. Great for fans of ghost/demon stuff.
Pulse (2001)
- One of my favourite horror movies ever. Worms its way into your being. Some truly terrifying, iconic scenes and imagery, not to mention quite prescient in its message re: online connectivity and society. Really can’t sing its praises enough!
Ju-On: The Grudge (2002)
- A classic!!! Still hits. Quintessential haunted house domestic strife ghost story. Toshio 😢🐈⬛
Audition (1999)
- Probably my least favourite of this batch. Not for the squeamish. Still worth a watch if only for its feminist social commentary.
GonJiam: Haunted Asylum (2018)
- OK this one is admittedly kinda hokey but it’s based off a REAL location and the jump scares are amazing!! Some truly spine-tingling moments. Not recommended just before bed lol 😬 (Also found footage)
If you want to keep things going post-Halloween—here are 30 movies we watched last month. Mandy, Opera, Blood Diner, Cruising, Repulsion, and Possession were my favorites 🖤 List curated by medulla_oblongata, oyyoyyoy, and myself 🖤
This is bending the rules just a hair, and I dunno if it changed my life, but I love the website WindowSwap. https://www.window-swap.com/ It lets you watch the view outside windows across the world at random. Various everyday people pointed their webcam out the window, recorded some video, and uploaded it to the site. It is such a delight, and relaxing, to just see other views on the world.
Hi, PI guys and gals. I'm Esme, always on the lookout for new social sites to poke at and see if I like them. As my bio says, I love bad horror movies, and have been reviewing them for 15ish years. I love comics, particularly the X-Men and Legion of Super Heroes.
https://www.triskaidekafiles.com/reviews/2025/7/1/deadly-daphnes-revenge-1987 July begins with a bunch of sleaze, straight from Troma. And I know you expect that sort of thing, but Deadly Daphne's Revenge still left me feeling dirty. But check out all my thoughts at the link
