I was afraid of driving for a long time. Lots of accidents in my family, but they were heavy drinkers too. So mostly their own fault.
I went from permit to license from 16 to 19. Felt better testing in my own vehicle.
It's easy to become complacent while driving. The nerves will go away quickly. Just make it a habit to check your mirrors, watch your speed, and react on the road to what's going on. Not what you think could be going on.
It'll take 100 years for full automated cars to become a thing (more based on how many people avoided elevators than how quickly a car replaced a horse drawn cart) so make it rote.
i was pretty scared of driving until i was about 18, and the first couple months of being on a learners permit were still pretty nerve-wracking. but i just passed my driving test a couple days ago at age 20 and got 0 errors :-) i am glad i took it at my own pace
