it is all too easy to get swept up in all-or-nothing thinking. my house is messy so I either need to clean the entire thing or continue living in squalor. I have a shitload of work to do so I’ll either avoid it all or I have to block out 7 hours to get everything done. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY! Enter: just doing a little bit. I don’t have to do all the dishes, just a couple. as a perfectionist, this is still a novel concept to me even after many years. i still relish the fact that I can be like “oh just do a little bit!” Like how cool.

To get a bit of momentum I do the tiniest amount of the task and use that success to do the next bit until I somehow finish and/or go beyond what I needed to do. It’s not always fast but it works for me.

The best advice I've found, especially as a perfectionist. As someone who always strives for flawlessness, I've realized this mindset can often hold me back. It's easy to get caught up in making everything just right, but that can lead to never finishing projects or, worse, never starting them. This advice reminds me to focus on completion rather than perfection. It's about making progress and not letting the fear of imperfection paralyze you. You can always refine and improve something once it exists, but you can't improve what you haven't created yet. It's about striking a balance between quality and actually getting things done

That thing you walk by every day and think, ”Ugh, I need to take care of that.” And then you don’t take care of it, and then you walk by it again and think, “Ugh, why didn’t I deal with that! I suck.” And then you’re depressed. (Or is it just me?) Well, next time say, “I’m going to do this right now.” And then, don’t just move it somewhere closer to where it needs to go. If it needs to be in a box in the closet, take the box down and it the thing inside. Don’t put it on the shelf next to the box. Do it right. I, for one, feel so much better about myself when things are taken care of.

i deleted instagram like three years ago. intermittently on tiktok (like two-day binges every six months). no twitter and nothing else. i love this little app because it succeeds where all the others fail now: in building community. that’s everything IMO. i feel so free everyday and can’t imagine having mainstream social media anymore, between the ads, the people i don’t care about, the pressure, and the whole ickiness of it.

starting when I was like 7 years old, I used to have morning coffee in bed with my grandparents when I stayed over there. this was my cup. I now also have a tattoo of this on my hip in honor of them x

what a gift it is to grow up and realize your cousins are cool people who you enjoy spending time with. i have a big italian american family who i didn’t see much growing up, and now i have a newfound love and appreciation for them in my old age (28).
