Since high school, I’ve had a number of jobs here and there, and I just got my first job after college. During the summers, I did a lot of landscaping, and it made me realize how fulfilling manual labor work is to me, and made me rethink the career path I was looking into that mostly involved sitting in front of a computer. For some people, that is great, and they love their work! But I just started to feel a need to have a more physical job. Well I finally found work that I could use my college experience to get into and also involved physical work, and I’m so happy. I think I’m the kind of person that needs to move around a lot, so even though this wasn’t the job I was planning for during college, it’s one that makes me feel more fulfilled at the end of the day.

over the past few weeks i’ve managed to go from working one to five days a week at a restaurant. the work is fast-paced and physically and emotionally draining but i haven’t felt this good in months. i don’t even particularly like my job but i feel so much better than when i’m unemployed and i don’t think it’s even about the money. i just need a reason to get up even if it’s just clearing tables and making lattes for people i’m in the world and i’m making it turn slowly with my own two hands

hands look like this so shorty’s don’t lots of down time to do stupid sh*t and joke with co-workers never have to look at a computer screen (but plenty time to scroll PI.FYI) work outside and touch grass meet interesting people learn valuable life skills every day you tire out your body but not your mind at the end of the day, so you still have energy to create things after a quick nap plenty of crazy stories to write and tell about actually get paid to help people, not some empty corporation
Highly recommend

I feel like there’s such pressure for creatives of all types to ā€œmake a name for themselvesā€, constantly be promoting and using all the right hashtags. Who cares? What if you just wanna make paintings for fun without monetary gain or fame in mind? What if you wanna make youtube videos just as a personal diary instead of becoming a ā€œcontent creatorā€ or ā€œinfluencerā€? What if you just enjoy making logos instead of wanting to be a career freelance designer who spends every waking moment keeping up to date on design trends? Maybe your goal is to make money and become popular for your art, and that’s great, go for it! But I think it’s just as valid to enjoy art for arts sake, and not feel a need to worry about posting it consistently and appeasing your followers.

Best cherry drink, you might like it even if you don’t like cherry flavor! Real sugar too!
