I grew up in the one state in this country that doesn't allow slot machines anywhere but casinos, and was raised on scary stories about gambling debt and whatnot. And now the gacha and bets and blind boxes and online casinos are so normalised...
Idk, have a little treat every so often but these companies literally spend so much time and effort in predatory practice to keep you spending your coin, just for a jpg or a piece of landfill.
This comes from reading an article by Wesley Mission (a homeless charity here) that 2.7bn is lost each year to just poker machines, just in NSW alone. A million AUD every single hour on JUST POKER MACHINES in one state 😭 Thinking about how many other places are designed for you to habitually toss a few dollars away for a dopamine hit is making me mad and it's not even 9:30am yet.

💰currently being a bit more financially responsible and finding that the only way for me to stay on top of things is to know my daily budget and actually write it down and see the numbers with my own eyes, because numbers don't mean shit to me otherwise
