for me it’s edm. Martin Garrix, armin van buuren, tiesto, avicii, afrojack, all of it. takes me right back to middle and high school, house parties, blasting music in cars, everyone just obsessed. it was such a crazy time for edm. then somewhere around college it just faded. even my whole friends circle moved on from it.I still go back to it sometimes though, and when i do, it’s like a full-body flashbackĀ

I think people are far too obsessed with beyonce, drake etc bring ā€œhouseā€ back when it never went away. House has always had its mainstream moments. Furthermore these artists are way behind on trend. The kids in clubs right now love faster 140 BPM techno and trance. People need to recognize the next thing on this trend cycle is that stripped down and or ā€œminimalā€ house gonna make a comebackIm currently obsessed with french filter house at the moment. Its great uplifting music with a pretty good long history. One of my fav new producers Ejeca just dropped a french filter house homage album. Its excellent. Dubstep was the first genre that I really got nerdy about and made a part of my identity. My favorite era was what you might call ā€œSecond Wave Dubstep,ā€ (the kind of stuff put out by OWSLA, Circus Records, Never Say Die, Inspected Records, UKF, MTA, etc.) which I will arbitrarily say lasted from 2009 to 2013. TheĀ UKF Dubstep 2011Ā andĀ GetDarker Presents: This is Dubstep 2011Ā compilations are perfect representations of the Second Wave’s beginnings, as Skrillex’sĀ Scary Monsters and Nice SpritesĀ EP influence was changing the genre forever. I stopped following the scene when Dubstep stagnated in its Riddim era (2015-ish) and stopped hitting the same for me. Right now I’d say we’re seeing a post-Dubstep wave where the kids who grew up idolizing Sonny Moore and learning Fruity Loops in their bedrooms are making music which draws influence from 2010s electronic music (underscores, 100 Gecs, Frost Children, Food House, etc.), and that’s made me nostalgic for the old days. I think my highest calling in life is to write Skrillex’s biography.Ā

this is one of the few places online that actually feels good to use. I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but it’s thoughtful, chill, and way more human than the usual social apps.

I really believe our names shape our lives. not just what people call you, but how the world sees you, responds to you, reflects you back to yourself. If mine was different, I don’t think I’d be the same person at all. maybe nothing around me would be the same either. It sounds unhinged but I don’t care. and yeah, it keeps me up at night more than it should

Honestly, most people I know aren’t really thinking about it that deeply. Everyone’s just tired, and if AI helps get stuff off their plate quicker, they’re gonna use it.
