Early contender for my SOTY.
I loved "Easter Pink" when it dropped in January year, but "MAKKA" ft Ecco2k w prod from Mechatok might be even better.
As much as I'm feeling like "unc" for recommending fakemink as a 29 year old, I just can't hide how much I love this guy's music. He's one of the most exciting artists doing it right now.

My friend put me on to KAMAUU recently with his single Mango and it gave me a Childish Gambino Redbone vibe and I was really into it. I figured I'd get some more low-pitched, groovy tracks with his other songs, but I was so wrong. His other single BOA was filled with straight bars with a powerful message. On the other hand, he's on Instagram (@kamauuworld) posting WEEKLY fire snippets of self-produced beats and verses. He's a really creative artists, even if you don't have the time to check out his full songs, just give this snippet a shot.

a surprise drop sophomore album that makes me remember why i fell in love with his artistry in the first place. pushes the boundaries on what afrobeats can be as a genre and safe to say no one is quite making the same music as he is.

Don Toliver has to be one of my favorite new artists this year. I can’t stop listening to his entire discography (this is coming from a guy who is notorious for skipping songs). On the other hand, Masego has been dropping straight heat for years, and he’s finally dropping a new album this week. This groovy new single Mystery Lady has been on repeat this entire week and I can’t stop!!!
