grab your friends and go to the park, throw a dinner party, sit on the floor of your room and yap for 8 hours! I often think about how when we lose something we know it was real because of collective memories. like I’m sure I had a pink sweatshirt with a dinosaur on it as a kid, but my mom doesn’t remember it, and we have no photos of it. my sister remembers it though! so I know it was real. hanging out with my friends makes me feel real because I get to see memories form in real time, and get to see the joy that my friends are experiencing (and feel my own joy as well!). you’ll be able to talk about that day forever with a quick “hey remember that time when…” and what’s more real than that?

I remember all my best friends of my childhood, i just find it really nostalgic how we no longer talk, we used to do everything together, be in each other houses just playing and talking and watching movies, i understad that we are older and different in so many ways, but understanding it doesnt make it less nostalgic

over the past year i started collecting little things from days out with my friends or family or whatever. my room is COVERED in different receipts, packaging from stuff i've bought, postcards, birthday cards, and not just paper stuff, also things like rocks or little toys we've found or an empty bottle of jack daniels from my birthday last year which i mixed with kopparberg (don't ask me why because i don't know :') ) it's all on display in my room and i love my room for that. i'm surrounded by fond memories with those i love even if i can't exactly remember what some silly label was from or something, i know it's from something i enjoyed enough to stick it on my corkboard or something.

oh, how I LOVE a "remember when we...". Those were always my favorites: to reminisce, to share a laugh over silly stories, to realize that someone cares just as much as you about that one memory you hold close to your heart
