i don’t know what’s better— the instrumental flourish at the end that’s very reminiscent of ā€œatmosphereā€ by new order’s predecessor, joy division, or vocalist/guitar god guy bernard sumner cracking up repeatedly throughout the song.

Entire song has so much energy and then they hit you with this insane pause at the end that makes you think the song is over. but no. It’s back, harder and lickier and driving again. (2:20)

Nobody knows how to end an album on a particularly wistful note like my pal Britt Daniel. ā€˜Vittorio E’ is like the first of many such closers. šŸ’™

I feel like that band's frontman, Britt Daniel, has turned "mood-setting closing track" into something of a cottage industry. The best of these should make you want to replay the album, no? "Everybody's at disadvantage/speaking with their second language"

all of mansour’s works are gorgeous and so beautifully representative of the palestinian condition (pre and post-intifada) but there’s something about 1985’s ā€hopeā€ that’s always stuck with me, much like 1993’s ā€œthe nazareneā€ (also attached). i cannot recommend looking further into mansour’s works enough. follow him on instagram @/sliman.mansour šŸ•Šļø
