i started college in 2018 by moving across the country to LA, to a school that would eventually fail and close. mostly, I dropped out due to the pandemic. at the time i wanted to write for television because it sounded glamorous, but I became jaded when i learned more about the industry. i lived on my own for a little while and I worked odd jobs. a secret in life is that it's great to work odd jobs, because you always have something to talk about. anyway now i work for a nonprofit doing administrative stuff and i'm thinking of getting my degree in nonprofit management! i'm 25 and happy i took some time to meander and do my own thing, because i don't think i would be happy today if i worked in entertainment!

i loved & miss university, it really helped me figure out some things i was passionate about, have some cool experiences & learn a lot about myself, plus i just love learning and being in school in general (i always say if i was rich enough to not work i'd spend all my money getting degrees for fun), but that being said.... i no longer work in said field nor do i have any interest to at all lol i feel like if you're going to go to college you need to be sure of your field and the possibilities that come from it, or at the very least, go into something broadly applicable and then do as many things as you can (related clubs, volunteering, competitions, whatever) that allow you to explore the field while there. i got a broad degree (comms) but then made the mistake of not exploring enough avenues while in school and wound up locked into one that i didn't like post-grad. tried to leverage my degree to break into fields i'd enjoy more, but with my focused background, it's unfortunately not enough.

i'm graduating from my masters program this semester and have no plans yet for what will follow. this will be the first year in 23 years i haven't been in school. pretty scary stuff. but honestly i'd rather be a little afraid of the future while keeping my options wide open than have every second of my life planned out. what fun is that?

I have been pondering for a while now if i should change my major. I’m an accounting student and for starters I only took this course because the course i wanted wasn’t available in the college where i enrolled. In addition to that i transferred to another university where the tuition fee is free. I originally wanted to take a psychology course but now I am very interested in a mass communication degree as it involves a few studies regarding film and television. I am writing this while in my taxation class which im not very interested in. I just wanted to express myself somewhere as it is hard to tell my parents I want to shift courses when I am already 3 years deep in it 1 more year and I will graduate and if I choose to actually shift courses that is if im brave enough my parents will have to pay my tuition because the colleges that offer a communication degree that are close to me are mostly private and expensive and I dont wanna keep being a burden to them. I just wanted to write this down or tell someone this i guess in hopes of lessening my confusion and indecisiveness.
