I leave it be and go and read something good, something stimulating. Maybe like an article, an essay... I usually read he new yorker, the drift, n+1, stuff like that. they're often very witty and clever and well written. My competitive side takes over and I begin to see a new angle. that always seems to do the trick.

i usually find myself in reading ruts when iโ€™m taking classes and being assigned books or when iโ€™m trying to keep up with new releases and the โ€œsmartโ€ books that are usually dense and long. i can usually get myself out of this rut by picking out a book that looks fun to me, like a book set on a beach or something I loved in middle school. Iโ€™m reading From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler right now and itโ€™s just FUN!!! I also am very much not someone who feels like they have to finish a book. Life is too short. I think that helps!

Love a book but sometimes I just want the good stuff. Itโ€™s like talking or arguing with yourself but productive because itโ€™s reading
I recently read & saw (and I recommend doing so in that order) How to Defend Yourself and it has stuck with me!! Maybe I will write something good one day.
