My whole life I was a plain Kirstin and all of a sudden I am introducing myself as Kiki. An old friend today referred to me as K dog. Reminds me I am an amalgamate of all the people who have loved me

Nicknames

I don't think we realize how important nicknames are to our society. When I was a wee lad I thought my name was un-nickname-able and my hopes and spirits were crushed. Years later I have earned a nickname so well that it has replaced my actual name. I think everyone deserves to feel the joy of having a nickname. The community and bonding attached to giving and receiving a nickname is unmatched. Truly a life altering experience.

If you’re ever in a scenario where u can, try to go by a different name and see what happens.
I’ve always wanted to do this, as I like my middle name “Murphy” but my real name is Hope Fell— which is arguably cooler and on brand. Still, I see the life of Murphy before me. She has the confidence I had when I was 5 and wears thick black glasses and baseball caps.
