I just saw an AI news report (disclosed as such, but), it was almost completely indiscernible from a real video. This is truly the last time in our lifetimes we’ll be able to know what‘s real and what‘s not when online. Remind your friends, tell your parents, especially educate the older people in your lives to take everything they see online with a pinch of salt. This will be used to divide us further and manipulate us, etc. It already is, but it’s only getting more convincing.

its so interesting to see that the people that raised us to not believe everything we see on the internet now believe everything they see on the internet! but i agree with you. it’s becoming harder and harder to discern but with a trained eye you can always tell. ai still struggles with the details. it’s really just a matter of slowing down for a moment when scrolling

There’s been multiple reports of AI taking up lots of energy to generate things and we don’t need more energy being wasted to produce a soulless, computer generated piece of AI art (Idk how others feel about AI art but whenever I look at it I feel sick and my heart sinks because it just feels so empty) so that’s one thing. Another issue is all these horrific deepfake scandals, to an incident that happened to at least 1 girl at the high school I went to (I’m not gonna say their names or anything because they’ve already been through so much shit) to South Korea’s recent crackdown on deepfake p0rn which revealed just how rampant it was throughout the country (and I just know shit like this is happening worldwide it’s not just their country). There’s also social media manipulation, biases in AI (only 100/7,000 of this world’s languages being used in chatbot training which only contributes further to languages being endangered), the very real threat of AI to be used to create more inequality, etc. While it looks like generative AI is flopping in some areas now (thank god) I’m still very concerned about it

I’m being fully FORCED to use AI on Google Office and it’s SO annoying. I don’t appreciate that after any Google Meets (which SUCKS by the way) that Gemini wants to send me a recap of the meeting. I DON’T WANT GEMINI ANYWHERE NEAR ME! Also, this AI Fiverr GO I keep getting force-fed in my YouTube Ads, that uses individual creators AI to generate content that looks like the content they’d create is absolutely insane and horribly dystopian. What happened to art? What happened to appreciating the human spirit, and learning from our mistakes? Idk, but I’m tired. AI could have been a really genius way for expanding our understanding of important issues, but instead it’s used just for people to honestly be lazy, and also creepy. Weird Note: People falling in love with AI is honestly really tragic. But, as someone who has a grandmother who has repeatedly fallen for scammers due to loneliness, I would rather have her fall in love with AI versus someone who’s trying to get (and has successfully gotten) her bank account information to slowly take money from her and string her along via horribly photoshopped photos and copy & pasted poems found off of google with her name added to seem unique. Just strange to say I’d rather have my grandma fall in love with a robot vs a scammer 😂😂.

you are right to be worried about how common buying into AI bullshit has become but the worry should be for the people who are buying into it and for what they're going to do to society. keep the faith and be hyper-vigilant about the ways in which you are psychologically dependent on technology
