favorite book and movie (disney) as a kid and i still absolutely adore it. watched the 80s czech adaptation recently and also fell head over heels. i think it's incredibly full of weird charm and was definitely the reason for me loving more surreal things as a young adult

ooh yes, I can completely understand that. I loved the movie too, and I’ve heard of the Czech version, but never got around to watching it. the weird charm and surrealism elements are things that Jack With the Cuckoo Clock Heart has too. the vibes are a bit different, but both have a fever dream feeling to me while having a special place in my heart <3
