You’ve come to the right place…
Firstly, you need gratitude. So much whimsy comes from gratitude. This may take some slowing down and noticing. How cozy does your bed feel? How lucky you are to have a cozy bed? Take a noticing walk- go slowly, look around. Pay attention to what draws you in, and take your time examining. Actually see and engage with the world around you. Engage with music, dancing, singing. Craft even if you’re not talented at it. Say hi to your neighbors. Say hi to strangers. Look the check out person in the eye. Do loving things for yourself. Buy yourself flowers. Love the things you did as a child. Literally run around and skip and frolic. Do things that bring you joy but you may find embarrassing. Every day, think about how lucky you are to be who you are and have what you have.
The other side of whimsy is feeling your feelings. Can’t access joy and excitement when you’re weighed down. Make space for them as they come up, then find a way to let them go. Think about what has taken whimsy from your life. Not all stress can be reduced, but there may be many things you can disengage from or get rid of. Explore that.
We all have access to whimsy. I believe in you!
