I seem to have newly met this person countless times in my life because they can't seem to remember who I am despite us sharing such a close, good friend. After spending time together it feels like an elaborate prank. Do I look drastically different day to day? Is this a way to assert dominance? Who knows. #hingepartner

When I first met this dude from the Hinge app, I drove about an hour north to his mom’s house (where he lived) while she was out of town visiting his sister’s family for thanksgiving. I had talked to this dude for about a month on the phone (not text, actually hour-plus calls) cause he was a bit older and more old-fashioned (texting with him seemed like conversing with a dumb child). First time we spoke on the phone was a full moon on Halloween night. He told me he loved me cause I think he was out late with friends doing drugs. (Obviously already a flag of some sort, but over the month conversing, he won me over.) Now, to the in-person meeting: as I got out of my car at his house, I see this skinny, long-haired, shirtless hippy on the second story porch. He comes down the stairs to greet me, and we hug as I’m polite and do like him. As I follow him up the stairs to his front door, I see his shorts are sagging quite a bit. I stared at his cute little butt crack the whole way up… that entire first day/date was so crazy and awkward but also amazing and comfortable. I am still ā€œhomiesā€ with this dude over four years later, but definitely one of the most awkward experiences first meeting someone.

I have two friends with the same first name, and I made plans with one of them over text only to realize when we both showed up I was thinking of the other one the whole time. They were none the wiser, but it was just a slightly different night than I was expecting.

We met at a concert through a bunch of mutual friends and chatted for a while - we both had partners at the time so nothing came of it, but we matched on hinge a couple years later and he remember the exact conversation we had at the venue. We dated for a few months but it didn’t line up - we stayed friends and eventually were both single, doing everything together, and texting non-stop. He asked if I ever thought about us dating again and then I pretended to not be in love with him for about 3 months until I couldn’t take it anymore. We’ve been together for over a year now and he’s my best friend in the world - I love him so much and feel so grateful for the universe continuously putting us back together.
