I got lunch with the founder of a very well known company that wanted to work with Perfectly Imperfect...
And upon leaving my brain short circuited and I gave him a hug instead of shaking his hand. I did not know him like that. He didn't seem super into the hug.
I think I wow'd him with my weird guy aura tho

When I first met this dude from the Hinge app, I drove about an hour north to his mom’s house (where he lived) while she was out of town visiting his sister’s family for thanksgiving. I had talked to this dude for about a month on the phone (not text, actually hour-plus calls) cause he was a bit older and more old-fashioned (texting with him seemed like conversing with a dumb child).
First time we spoke on the phone was a full moon on Halloween night. He told me he loved me cause I think he was out late with friends doing drugs. (Obviously already a flag of some sort, but over the month conversing, he won me over.)
Now, to the in-person meeting: as I got out of my car at his house, I see this skinny, long-haired, shirtless hippy on the second story porch. He comes down the stairs to greet me, and we hug as I’m polite and do like him.
As I follow him up the stairs to his front door, I see his shorts are sagging quite a bit. I stared at his cute little butt crack the whole way up… that entire first day/date was so crazy and awkward but also amazing and comfortable.
Fast forward to now, I am still “homies” with this dude over four years later, but definitely one of the most awkward experiences first meeting someone.

I went to the doctors office recently about a knee I screwed up dancing at sixflags grad bash, but this beautiful girl walked in with a few other people. She had this cool short blue hair and her outfit was honestly much better thought out compared to the other people she was with. I didn't want to stare or anything, but I noticed her wispering to the person beside her and typing away at her phone. I didn't really pay any mind and I went along with my day afterwards, but as I got to the car it turns out that girl was a friend of my sister in middle school! She somehow recognized me and was texting my sister. I was able to compliment her look through my sister (she looked like chloe from life is strange) and she seemed to really appreciate it!! It was a pretty good day especially since I went to goodwill bins and had an amazing meal + milkshake at Dennys with my sister beforehand :) Sometimes you're just noticed!

one Austin Film Fest i was on the lookout for David Lowery (director of A Ghost Story and The Green Knight). i got access to the filmmakers bbq and thought i saw him but he was engrossed in conversation. i almost chickened out but i kept googling pictures of him to make sure it was him while i psyched myself up. finally, i worked up the courage to tap him on the shoulder and ask if he was David Lowery. Reader, he was not 💀
i apologized profusely, asked him about the short film he *was* premiering at the festival, and escaped as fast as i could feeling DEEPLY MORTIFIED.
the next few days i was still on David Lowery watch and noticing that the bald, five-o-clock shadow, black skinny jean look is much more common among filmmakers than i realized lmao. thus i decided to play it safe and simply accost him after his panel the following day.
on my way to the panel, i ran into a friendly lady who was looking for the same panel, so i walked her there while telling her my embarrassing mishap and plans to finally meet the elusive director. once we arrived, she disappeared and i felt a little offended she didn’t want to sit with me. turns out SHE WAS ON THE PANEL. one of the writers for THIS IS US!! mortified AGAIN, i started rehearsing my next apology for not knowing who she was.
the panel was great, both she and David Lowery were so insightful and lovely, even making me tear up a bit. afterwards i approached her and apologized and told her how some things she said on the panel touched me. she was super gracious and then said “so i told David your story, let me introduce you to him” 💀💀💀
anyway, she made the introduction and left to talk to more people. the first thing he said was “so was it another bald guy in black skinny jeans?”
so that’s my mortifying but deeply treasured celebrity story. i finally got to meet the REAL David Lowery.

tomorrow PI.FYI launches to the public
this project is the result of thousands of hours spent coding everything from scratch after I got laid off six months ago
no thiel-bucks or weirdo outsider money, just a pure desire to make something fun and true to Perfectly Imperfect’s day one goal of helping people find new things from real human beings, not algorithms or AI
a pure labor of love that I’ve been quietly plotting for two years and it’s completely self-funded from my (rapidly) dwindling savings account
so thank you for coming along for this weird ride 🫶 let's see where it goes
