one of my favorite topics so forgive me. i may come back later for more. feather boy by pro teens is my fave of all time. literally the song that gave me the push to pick up a bass. spent weeks learning it by ear and now i can play it with my eyes closed. perfect. so fun. no notes. locket by crumb is also a classic. their bassist is insanely talented. seven by men i trust and dorothy by her’s are also great ones. (i’m having issues hyperlinking the last three songs but i may come back to see if i can edit that later. so sorry!)

thank you for all the recs!! Im not complaining lol, they're all bangers, I can definitely see why feather boy is your favorite of all time. I briefly went through the rest of that album and the rest of it seems pretty bass heavy and cool too so I think I'll check the full thing out! same with that crumb EP. I don't listen to much indie / bedroom pop / all of the other genres that are in those spaces lol, not because I dont like it but because I haven't had a starting off point I guess, but I definitely have one now !!

Don blackman hearts desires

I’ve been gifted a 5 string bass, and while leading to play I’ve been able to respark my love for discovering music. Don Blackman hearts desire is probably my favorite discovery in this journey of learning bass through tabs. The oddest discovery for me probably has to be juice by lizzo….the bass goes crazy

finger picking

idk why i have always been dogshit at getting strum patterns down but i looove to finger pick. getting a good roll down pat and then switching up the strings, playing around with the bass line, and just riffing around while changing up the chords is so much more fun than strumming to me
