Went out on a road trip this weekend and brought my film camera with me. I’ve had some fellow photographers and non photographers spark conversations with me about my camera and it’s so nice making these connections in a new place. Highly recommend having a ‘visible hobby’. Plein air painting is also a great hobby for this! (Stay tuned when I get my photos developed)

my husband has started whittling and apologized for the little wood chips all over the porch and i was like “no i love it, it makes me think of you sitting with your little knife carving your little bird“ i love the mess it leaves, fragments of moments of peace everywhere

Picking up a hobby that doesn’t revolve around content creation and documentation. it can still involve media consumption but documentation i believe stops my creativity and my will to continue freely dead in its tracks. And for what? so others will know?

Dear Daniela, Here is a detailed list of all the things I adore doing often and have progressively gotten better at, wich would fit into my definition of "hobby": ∙ Visual Journaling. ∙ Gardening. ∙ Watching movies and writting extensive reviews. ∙ Giving recs hahah, but like, not only here but all the time to everyone. ∙ Studying the beautiful pseudo science of body language. ∙ Exploring two neighborhoods on my city. ∙ Reading interactive essays. ∙ Collecting interesting websites. ∙ PENPALING AND COLLECTING EVERYTHING REGARDING THAT, postcards, small flat gifts, writting letters, postage stamps, envelopes, fountain pens, beautiful papers and wax seals.

I think in general it’s extremely important that everyone has a hobby, or at least something fun to do outside of work. Artists I’m talking to you too, because if your job is music or visual art, I think you should have something totally unrelated to that to do in your free time. For example, I've been working on a painting for my brother’s boss in my free time, and I’ve also been knitting a scarf! It doesn’t have to be anything crazy and definitely not profitable, but it really helps with separating work time from free time.

I feel like middle aged or older adults have such a good sense of themselves, at least from an outside perspective. Everyone I know from family to co-worker to teacher who is within this age range is so easy to describe. Their characteristics are easy to point out and their personality is very clear. I feel like this isn't as true for young adults and teens and especially not for kids. Maybe it's because we're open to changing ourselves more and definition hinders our ability to grow. I feel like this is obvious but an observation non the less.

I’m not at home for most of the day but you can bet when 4pm hits she’s there waiting at the front door for me. I’ve been sick lately and had to lock her out while i diffused essential oils in my room to help with my sinuses. I WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN she was wailing and scratching at my door and the look of joy in her eyes when I stepped out my room filled me with unbearable guilt. I love my cat more than anything on this earth and everyday is a bit better knowing i’m her favourite person ❤️‍🩹

Wanted to share this rather elaborate cake I made that I'm pretty proud of. This is a vanilla sponge and chocolate brownie cake with ganache filling and a hot cross bun gin and tonic buttercream with some cinnamon infused brown butter cookies and tonic sugar shards to boot. The sun hit the sugar perfectly at the time of photographing (:
