fantasy football

My parents are from Ireland so I didn't grow up with football. I've always been jealous of the lore and excitement that comes with a lifetime of watching the game. I decided this year was the year to catch up, and what better way to do it than to start my own Fantasy Football league. It's a league I built of friends from all different parts of my life, and most are brand new to the sport. Now we message each other things like "How did your KICKER get 18 points!?" and "Chubb's backup is crushing it". A perfect excuse to get excited about something every Sunday and to keep in touch with friends of all kinds.

getting into sports as a "not into sports person" person

I grew up playing soccer and was probably the worst and least motivated kid on the team. Having jerk teammates and coaches really soured the whole of sports for me, and I never really picked them up again as a viewer or player until a few years ago. Some good friends roped me into joining a fantasy football league, and I won the whole enchilada in my first year! After kind of paying attention for a season, you start to recognize players and learn about teams' reputations. Soon enough, you're rooting for your favorite team and players!

See “No Other Land” in theaters if you can

It’s an incredible and enraging documentary about the slow-yet-steady destruction of a Palestinian village, Masafer Yatta, in the West Bank by Israel. It’s nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscars, but no US distributor picked it up. The directors decided to release it independently so that Americans could still see it. If it’s playing near you (it is in NYC), please buy a ticket and go as soon as possible. Nothing has made me angrier, which is why they don’t want us to watch it AND why everyone should. Patience is key

I adopted a young cat (not a kitten) in August, so not the same but maybe applicable. Know that as much as you’ve prepared, things that you can’t prepare for might still pop up and that’s okay! It’ll also probably take time for the kitten to settle in - she might not be obsessed with you immediately, but a consistent routine and consistent love at her comfort level will build genuine trust. You're in it together for the long haul anyways, so don’t rush growing the relationship! It’s all part of your story. Enjoy your new friend!! ❤️
