I don’t even listen to Gotye but I’ve lost three pets over the past two years (one from old age and two to terminal illness) … after the first one I searched songs about pet death because I was going through it and found this. So I specifically only have listened to this song under those circumstances and have definitely conditioned myself to cry just from hearing it. Tested it just now and it worked :’)

Supposedly recorded shortly before his death, Elliott’s take on the Cat Stevens classic wasn’t published until Mike Mills’ terrific film ā€œThumbsuckerā€ came out in 2005. Prescient. And so Elliott, right down to the false starts. That chord change in the bridge just melts/breaks my heart. I miss him almost every day. šŸ’”

i accidentally deleted my message so i’m gonna speedrun this (i graduated in 2022) - it’s ok to do seasonal work. hiring ppl will understand. look for things that can’t be replaced by AI—camp counselor, food service, etc. anything that will give you a W2 and keep the lights on. - look for housing in your price range NOW, not what you’re hoping to achieve. it’s ok if that’s $0. depending on your city, you might have low-income resources. i lived in the projects for a year and a half after graduating, and it helped me get on my feet to start building my life. - apply to literally everything. you meet half the qualifications? apply. out of your city? apply. probably gonna be replaced by AI anyway? apply. it gives you a chance to practice. just stay away from jobs that ask you to do free labor as part of your interview. - goodwill helped a ton. depending on where you live, they might have free job training courses and fairs where you get to talk directly to employers. it at least gets your foot in the door. aaaaand that’s all i have lol. i’m rooting for you. shit’s rough out there. know your self-worth and look for creative solutions, i believe in you

i call her girlie and she’s almost 3 and she means the world to me. i was very worried about taking her in, since my parents found her outside in winter as a teen and she’d contracted an illness that still affects her now. but i’m glad i did because she’s so wonderful and i’m so grateful to have her in my life

Response times are super slow on my phone. I have an iphone xr and I know many apps don’t cater to that, but i often have a 2-3 second delay between hitting buttons and it actually taking. with emojis/links/pictures, it jumps to 8-10 seconds. so i often hit buttons twice or more and then have to double back. the theme tab in particular is super slow, taking me 6-8 seconds before any change is registered (besides haptics). theme tab would also benefit from labels for the custom themes (i.e. background, text, accent).
