here's what i've been listening to this past week! first time listens: ⋆ *NEW* Flume & JPEGMAFIA ~ We Live In A Society - Been on repeat the whole week, really loving Is It Real and overall just really fun. probably around 8/10 ⋆ SPELLLING ~ SPELLLING & the Mystery School - I love Hard to Please (Reprise) its so beautiful! listened to it on vinyl a lot this week ⋆ Björk ~ Homogeneic - For some reason never listened to this particular Björk album, but it was so worth it. solid 9.5/10 and in my top 3 from her ⋆ Geese ~ 3D Country - Cameron Winter my goat. such a fun album i really liked it ⋆ Paris Texas ~ They Left Me With the Sword / a Gun (double EP) - Highly recommend, this is so fire, definitely one of my favorite rap projects of the year. infinyte and No Strings are actually amazing. maybe 8.5/10 for both of the EPs combined, but "...a Gun" was my fav of the 2 ⋆ *NEW* Model/Actriz ~ Pirouette - Just listened to this today, what a great record with some heartbreaking songs. got some heavy Xiu Xiu vibes on a couple tracks, i really loved Acid Rain. strong 8.5/10 for now but definitely planning to listen more ⋆ femtanyl ~ CHASER + REACTOR - Listened to these 2 EPs after a friend's rec, they were super fire and so groovy. M3 N MIN3 has goat feature alert (Danny Brown). loving both of them, for sure gonna listen to more from her! what's been in rotation: ‣ Cameron Winter ~ Heavy Metal - Might just be my fav album of all time ‣ Anything by JPEGMAFIA - Especially the new EP, All My Heroes Are Cornballs, and ILDMLFY ‣ Natalia Lafourcade ~ Vine solita - One of my favorite songs ever ‣ Armand Hammer ~ Doves - What a heart wrenching song, literally makes me feel ill (but it's so good) ‣ SPELLLING ~ Hard to Please (Reprise) - both the OG and the Mystery School version are so so glorious ‣ Anything Björk - lots of Post, Vespertine, and Homogeneic sorry if this is way too long for this site!!! i'll try to make this a weekly thing every friday so see you next week! also follow me on RYM https://rateyourmusic.com/~jcs613 ok bye

My week in music #2

it's been another week so that means a lot of music! first time listens: ⋆ *NEW* billy woods - Not gonna say the name of the record because it's pretty offensive, but this is an amazing new album that I enjoyed a lot. It's so dense and claustrophobic with these crazy grimy and sample-heavy beats, all paired with billy woods rapping his ass off. Easily an AOTY contender for me, 9/10 for now but planning on listening more! ⋆ Brand New ~ The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me - Can't believe I never checked out this album, it was really really good. Loving literally every song, especially Sowing Season, Limousine, and Not The Sun! what's been in rotation: ‣ The Smiths - HECK yeah ‣ Jeff Buckley - I put my mom on Jeff Buckley this week and she liked him! ‣ femtanyl - Every single song constantly on loop, I keep trying to find similar artists or songs but there's NOTHING :( ‣ Cameron Winter ~ Heavy Metal - Obviously. Geese band too ‣ BCNR ~ Ants From Up There - Obviously again ‣ Weatherday ~ Hornet Disaster - Still loving this record a couple months after release, definitely top 3 of the year for me. Just great noisy slacker rock all the way through ‣ Jane Remover ~ Revengeseekerz - Current favorite album of the year ‣ Adrianne Lenker - <3 ‣ Paris Texas - A few songs on repeat from the double EP, mostly infinyte, mudbone, and No Strings. Just really fun music! Looking forward to some more listening this upcoming week!!

Week of 2/21

- revisited some classic rap albums - new seu jorge i liked especially the second half - panico one of my favs ever - toumani diabate mande variations good to put on in the background or to lock in and focus on it - ninh binh homestay okay background music - merzbow for those who enjoy - ensiferum if you like a little cheesy metal - soulfly only if you really fuck with numetal. has a couple songs that hit the spot - força bruta, jorge ben always good but this one’s overrated imo. tábua de esemeralda and solta o pavão are more interesting. but good for background - john martyn glorious fool: three all time great tracks “please fall in love with me” “couldn’t love you more” and “pascanel”. you don’t have to bother with the rest - second listen of into a pretty room just now. one of the best albums of the year for me for now

If I don't know what to do, or know exactly what I need to do but must (the must is essential here) procrastinate, I'd discover music for hours on end until I get tired and call it a successful day. Time passes in like no time (haha) when I do my weekly deep dive into what's new or what's old - whatever it is, as long as it makes me think "fuck i really should have found this sooner." or a simple "i like this." It's my extremely aware subconscious forcing me to spend hours finding 'my song of the week' - I swear. This list is just the representation of exactly what kind of sound I'm fixated on currently. o Unicorn - bel canto o Smiling in Slow Motion - Mike Midnight o Paradise Circus - Massive Attack, Hope Sandoval o Boyracer - Hysterical Love Project o St Magdalene's Wood - Kelora I'm keeping this list short. I realized the music deep dive will return especially because it's prime time (after midnight).
