I complain about the scene a lot and the university is gentrifying it to filth, but I really do love this city. I think it’s beautiful. And somewhat walkable. Midwestern kindness on the border of Southern charm. (Most of) the people here are honest n real. You can get chili on spaghetti at 1am. We have amazing bookstores. I don’t know how much longer it will be like this, but right now it’s special and it made me who I am.

People who are unpretentious, deeply cynical but kind, outgoing, and joyful. This current trend of clean-tone shoegaze is drab. Shoegaze was at its peak when it sounded like vibrators being held up to the mic. I’m really really into this French band KG right now: They were active in the 90s and sound like MBV’s first album / The Jesus and Mary Chain. “Sex Toy Box” is a perfect song.
