I can't stop reading this book. I just read it for the third time in 9 months. It's so genre-bendy (I term I will be using from now on). It's funny, it's sexy- it's filled with YEARNING, and it's sci-fi with post colonial social commentary. Impeccable.

I mean. Wow. I wish I could formulate coherent literary analysis but I think I just need to sit with this for a month. Humanity, gender, politics, fear, love. The heart of culturally long-lasting, impactful sci fi is when the sci is merely a background to the fi, ya know? Tried to pick a quote but can’t right now. If you hear shrill screaming in the distance just know it’s me wailing over this book Illustration by David Lupton

This is an incredible read if you're into abolitionist/reconstructionist reimagining's of the world post‐technological/economic de-growth. It is comforting to imagine beautiful futures, and to read about what it feels like to find companionship at a vulnerable time.

I saw Sinners for a second time (so I could see it on 70mm at the vista). I could see it a third time. The score for this film is also perfect. I read somewhere that Sinners was going to increase the love of Blues music, and I 100% believe it, and I also think that's incredible. It's such a moving, emotive, deep feeling, truly Black American genre, and I think we'd all be better off listening to more Blues. The only other movie I saw twice in theaters in the opening two weeks is The Holiday.
