🏹can i be honest? i read this when i was a kid and i’m still thinking about it. i know that it would be cool for me to mention a more complex book or whatever but i just cannot shake my love for the story .. it was the first book that really wowed me so i just hold it near and dear to my heart

as i was reminiscing about books of my youth, i uncovered another buried memory.
due to growing up poor circumstances, i was constantly getting free books from different programs as a kid.
i remember when i was around 13? maybe 14? one of these books i received was “primavera” by francesca lia block. i think an older lady chose it for me based on the cover alone because i should NOT have been reading this at that age. it was a fantasy which excited me, but i soon realized it dealt with heavy themes and a lot of erotic elements that i didn’t truly understand. but the entire story remains vivid yet distant in my memory.
i think i'm gonna take the plunge and read it again 13 years later. i remember the settings and prose being sooo vibrant and beautiful and i wonder if i would have newfound appreciation for it as an adult.
i still love the cover and wish i still had my copy. but i think i quickly got rid of it after the big “what the fuck?” i felt when i finished it. i def thought my mom would find it and lock me in a dungeon for being a freak bc i slightly enjoyed it even when i was confused.

🩹for me, pimple patches really help break the habit. they are hydrocolloid patches and usually have ingredients in them that resolve acne quickly and they are pretty cheap too! you can even get pretty ones.

i came across this rec quite randomly and i haven't read sci-fi in so long, i wondered if it would be too much for me but this book was delightfully fun! the main character wakes up from a coma aboard a spacecraft and pretty much has to work his way backward to remembering why he is here, what he is doing here, who even he is, so on. the last sci-fi i had read was the 'artemis fowl' series when i was a kid which i genuinely enjoyed so much that i had quite a lot of expectations for this one- it wasn't what i expected but definitely wasn't a let down too (struggling to review without giving a spoiler so just rambling)
