big ups to iota carrageenan nasal spray (Flo Travel or Betadine cold defense brands)
iām a spoonie so itās nothing short of miraculous that iāve not gotten sick āno COVID, RSV, or fluā since iāve made this a habit. i keep the spray near my door to remind me to use it before heading out and when i return home. NIH study showed a really strong efficacy at preventing* COVID, so in tandem with the vaccine and masking (on the train, at movies, shows, concerts when iām not drinking or eating), iām so grateful to have this in my health arsenal.

I believe daily (non medicated) saline nasal sprays and gargling salt water a couple times a week has kept me healthy so far this winter. No sinus infections (my twice a year tradition), no respiratory infections or cough.
I donāt know if thereās science behind this or if itās a placebo or just luck.

Always good but feeling particularly thankful for them this week!! My partner contracted covid after a recent trip, but because he masked around me and our kids constantly after getting home (as we usually do after such trips for 7 days), ate in a separate room with the door closed, and ran air purifiersāhe was able to protect our whole household during the most infectious stage, which was before he was showing any symptoms but testing with a bright positive. (He developed symptoms the next day, which would have been too late to protect us if he hadnāt been masking and testing already.) Itās now day 9 since his positive and no one else is sickāstill technically possible but the odds look good. š¤š»š¤š»
Thereās nothing hotter than sacrificing a little convenience to save your loved ones (or anyone) from physical sufferingā¦ plus in the case of covid, potential complications or even chronic disability. It works!!! šš»

itās not bed rotting to rest when youāre tired, run-down, or sick.
I can feel where capitalist dogma has seeped into me every time I feel doubt or shame for how much time Iāve spent in bed or doing very little, or the fear that Iāll never be motivated to do anything again. itās not true! inevitably after only 3 days of solid rest I naturally crave activity, projects, organization, work, and not as penance.
