Create an account, search a topic you’re interested in, find the most satisfyingly specific articles you’ve ever seen—articles you never knew you wanted or needed to read—it’s marvelous and terrific. Academia also sends you email recs about articles it feels you’d take interest in based on previous searches, nine out of ten times of which are spot on. I just got finished reading a paper around the amalgamation of the Japanese Avant Garde and a Frank Lloyd Wright hotel. Heavenly

pretty sure celine rec'd this which is why i finally signed up. a very useful tool for managing and archiving research and just knowledge in general. super cool, spent most of my morning using it to arrange all my bits of academic papers, articles, random knowledge. definitely plan to use it long term.

And I mean browsing. Just paging through, skipping the methods section, joyreading. Pigeons can be art critics! Researchers can figure out your identity by examining which phone apps you use, and when! The historic emergence of writing correlates with inequality!

i love recommendation apps… it’s like a mixture of arena and substack in a way that it‘s just a small community of people recommending articles, videos, etc of anything under the sun… really helping me fix my ! attention span !

I cannot recommend enough learning how to bake something incredibly well and making it your signature. Bake it once, twice, seven times, learn it well, bring it for your friends, enemies, coworkers—you become a legend. I perfected baklava several years ago and almost every holiday there’s the inevitable request for me to bring some and everyone knows me as the baklava girl and it fills me with so much joy to participate in this exchange of sweets and compliments and I swear it enlivens my ego and awakens my heart and everyone wins and it’s divine
