i give you beat rhythm fashion, a 1980s band from New Zealand. they are well before their time, and has a rather sporadic release schedule, but whatever they did release was so fantastic. Listen back to my chat with frontman Nino Birch :)
This current trend of clean-tone shoegaze is drab. Shoegaze was at its peak when it sounded like vibrators being held up to the mic. I’m really really into this French band KG right now: They were active in the 90s and sound like MBV’s first album / The Jesus and Mary Chain. “Sex Toy Box” is a perfect song.
