Strawberry shortcake

All I wanted for my birthday this year was a strawberry shortcake. My friend planned to bake but ran out of time, so picked up instead (special shoutout Mia’s Brooklyn Bakery btw, was delicious). Sure I know it’s maaaybe a lil basic for a cake rec, BUT… yummmmm. I ate it for breakfast the next day and the one after that too.

Strawberry shortcake with actual shortcake

The best way to have strawberry shortcake is with the ACTUAL shortcakes (closer to a biscuit than cake). I’m not a huge cake person overall but I’ve especially never loved the “strawberry shortcake” with cake instead of the biscuit like shortcakes. But with those real shortcakes?? 5 stars.

Japanese strawberry cake

I’m a baker and mostly a cake maker so it’s hard to choose but I love this cake so much it’s so light and fluffy and refreshing and my fav is that it’s not too sweet. Other favs are roll cakes(especially ube and coconut), lord baltimores, basque cheesecake, and Victoria sponge.
