super contemplative and atomospheric animated feature about a group of students at an Chinese arts academy. it’s a really conversation driven movie that contemplates the philosophy of art making, pedagogy, tradition and connection. I really loved it! It has so much thoughtful dialogue to chew on without feeling pretentious, and a flat animation style that feels so nostalgic. wish I could have watched it when I was 20 and in art school and thought I knew everything.

there is all at once everything and nothing to say about this film !
as an artist and painter, this movie really inspires process and preservation of history not only in paintings but in our society. it makes you choose to see everything as a painting and everything as important and everything as art. it makes you feel raw and aware of the space you take up and that is around you, and what being present actually means. it brings up so many important questions about what art can be or why it can be

I was fortunate to be able to catch a screening of this last night! Gorgeous impressionistic experimental romance film comprised of unused footage taken over the course of 22 years—some raw documentary-style footage, some outtakes and scenes from Jia’s other works featuring the same actors (so you see them naturally age over time which is pretty cool). I’ve seen it compared to a collage and I think this is apt; the plot is tenuous at best but really impressive considering that it’s just made up of random scraps. I think it came together well and it was a beautiful experience just letting the footage wash over me like the tides and seeing the passage of time

One of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen. Visual poetry with little to no dialogue, mellowness and strange tension. Each frame is perfect. It's a must if you love slow cinema

I could spend upwards of 3 hours scrolling through this website. I’m so obsessed with finding perfumes with notes I like (at the moment my favorites are bubblegum, sea water, and incense). I like to go to Scentbar (strictly the Hollywood location) and hand them my phone and show them all the perfumes on my Fragrantica account that I want to smell. I knowwww a scentbar employee hates to see me coming

lol stupid thing to recommend but specifically for philosophy I find it very helpful to follow imbedded links and see the web of philosophical terms spread and develop as you go. philosophy is so referential at times and it helps me to see things summarized and related directly. once I find a philosophical subset I’m interested in I look at the literature concerned and delve deeper, there are so many free pdfs of philosophical texts online, bless up. you can start with what you know, “philosophy of-“ will almost always yield something. my interest in philosophy started with modern philosophy and moved backwards in time, you might be different. honestly just get in there and have fun with it kid
