About 30 mins outside the city, easy hiking/walking and such a contrast (or a nice break) from the flash of Vegas. Got to see some ancient handprints in the rocks & wild burros strolling around

It’s a huge, beautifulllll conservation area with towering red/tan mountains just on the outskirts of the city with lots of hikes to choose from! They can range from a couple hours long to all day affairs. There’s one main road that loops through the entire park that's definitely worth driving around if hiking isn’t the vibe. You could also stop and stare at some of the rock climbers for a bit. Overall it’s very pretty and I highly highly rec. Separately there’s also some hot springs in Arizona near the Hoover dam that are nestled into a slot canyon.

I always liked hiking but never truly 'got' it. Then I went to the Southwest and zen'd out on some desert-y trails (Seven Falls in Tucson for those keeping track at home). Here, during January, you can experience every season in the span of an hour while observing roadrunners in their natural habitat. It's eerily silent and, when it's all said and done, you're hungry enough to eat 10 plates of enchiladas.
