i’ve never been so struck by the sheer love for knowledge of the staff at this american life quite like this. it’s messy, it’s outdated, they occasionally refer to dawn by her deadname, but there’s a beautiful innocence to it.
here is a group of cis men approaching concepts they have ZERO language and understanding of, but they have such an empathetic approach to who is essentially a small town pariah.
the language used might be harsh, but the decadent and outrageous and loving portrayal of dawn goes so far to say that to understand one another we really do just need to fucking LISTEN!!!
