I feel like I’ve recommended so many of my favorite museums on here already, but I visited this while in Croatia recently and the way the sculptures are curated along the patio overlooking the ocean is some of the best utilization of outdoor space I’ve seen

one of the best house museums I’ve ever been to is nestled right into Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. on an unassuming stretch of Halsted is a little house packed to the gills with artwork, objects, and oddities belonging to the Chicago Imagist Roger Brown (1941-1997). it’s kind of hard to describe, but every nook and cranny is filled with interesting ”stuff” and you’re invited to peruse the space in a really unconventional way (open the medicine cabinets, sit in his old Mustang in the garage). the space has been temporarily closed for a few years but I’m holding out hope they reopen it for good! and if you’re a student at SAIC, supposedly you have access to the collection for research and art activations (aka performance).

I don’t believe in ranking things- restaurants, albums, books, movies, athletes anything, top x lists whatever. I think it’s a waste of time honestly. Even with a completely objective criterion what’s the point. Would rather listen to and read people just talk about their favorite things and why they are special and meaningful to them- everyone has their own, interesting reasons. And this is a great place to do that!
