idk why. i didnt even see it until i was an adult watching the movie with summer camp kids. it’s so good and they all hate it so when i have a rough day and they’re being bad i make the after school kids watch it. he’s just so majestic idk guys

this movie forever altered me as a kid. i asked for a VHS of it from santa and rewatched it countless times. I got every horse book i could from the library and would practice drawing an arabian vs. a thoroughbred head. i did one single-week horse camp and had the time of my life. now i work with a ton of fancy ladies who own horses and ride all the time and am surrounded by hills of horses at my job and because of this movie and my horse hyperfocus i can sort of pretend i am also a fancy horse lady and convince them that im one of them. thanks spirit for making me socially adept and relatable to my wealthy coworkers and customers, and for all the fun along the way!!

I remember having this on DVD as a kid and I rewatched it for the first time in literally forever last night on Netflix (you have until 7/31 before it’s gone there!) This movie is a masterpiece. Last night I was so impressed over how well this 22 year old movie holds up. It is impeccably scored and the animation is just beautiful. It is also like perfectly paced and I love that it’s just under 90 minutes. And omg the visual storytelling???? The themes of freedom and friendship and resilience through adversity and just running wild and free like god intended. Throw in the juxtaposition with westward expansion and settler colonialism and fuckkkkk They also made the horses way too hot here LMAO REAL ONES KNOW ABOUT THIS BANGER

SPIRITED AWAY (2001)
Truly not trying to be cool, the simple fact is that this movie is like cocaine for a child of divorce. The whole thing of your parents turning into something you can't recognize and feeling like you have to move through the world alone, hits a little too close to home. I bought the DVD at a newstand when I was five to have something to do at my dad's apartment and never went back. Watched like two times a week, every week, for like a year
