eating a meal without watching something. sounds weird but its only like 10 minutes of quietly enjoying food and then its over and you realize how peaceful it was to do literally one thing. then you try driving without music and that is also nice. and then ur like oh maybe i can simply organize my closet without thinking of all the other things i need to do. maybe i can do one thing at a time, which gives me more time to do more things

i don’t think it’s healthy for the mind. doing one thing at a time requires focus and it’s how we stay present. it’s often rare to avoid thinking about the past, future, or the multiple crazy things going down in the present. finding something that requires your whole brain to think about is is so crucial and grounding, to be immersed in something other than yourself. i guess that’s why waiting rooms are so daunting - who wants to sit around, wait, and do nothing? obviously that’s a place to doom-scroll or read people mag or whatever. anyways when you’re not waiting around, just do one thing at a time dude

hiii i have also been in this position many times before and on instinct i would try to fill my days with lots of meaningless actions to fill that void-like feeling. i've found that doing everyday mundane tasks with my whole being has brought a lot of joy back into my life. i think a lot of us go through the motions of our everyday routines without giving our tasks much thought, intention/attention and it feels really nice to flip the script and pay attention deeply. something as simple as a morning cup or coffee or tea can become a ritual - taking ur time with each sip, really really tasting it, paying attention to ur breath + filling into your body in that moment. if you meet each task with the intention to really b there the whole time you'll find that joy is in the ordinary moments. one of my favorite authors thich nhat hanh once said, " you make yourself available to life and life becomes available to you."

1. 15 minutes of cleaning, organizing, something task oriented that feels productive and you can SEE. after that timer goes off you’re DONE! Good work. 2. next, it’s outside time. Maybe you walk to get a treat, find a flower, see a nice building, smile at a stranger. This can be a quick trip if you need it to, or find a podcast or album to listen to on a longer walk. 3. Food that makes you feel good nutritionally and food that makes you feel good emotionally. Chocolate cake and an apple. carrots and hummus and twizzlers. Indiana food! Get both. 4. Guilt free SCHEDULED relaxing Of any kind- bed rot, tv time, video games, whatever. its Your job to do it. This basic formula helps me.
