🥳
When you think of all that can go wrong with your body, you realize just how wonderful it is for carrying you forward. Each breath and heartbeat, a reminder of how it refuses to give up. Each step, a bold act of autonomy. Remember, not everyone was so fortunate as you to enjoy these gifts today. Celebrate. Move.

My body doesn’t always feel like this, this feeling is not new and it is not permanent. My body doesn’t always look like this, my body will not look like this tomorrow and it will not look like this forever. My body will shift and change in the ways it needs to, to maintain balance, to keep me healthy, to keep me safe. I am so lucky to have this body that works and works hard. I am so lucky to experience this life through a vessel that I love and that loves me back.

I recently tore a bunch of ligaments in my ankle while rock climbing, and the healing process has caused me to be in absolute awe of my body’s mechanics. The fact that the human being exists as it does, in all of its infinite forms, is an inexplicable miracle. Be grateful to be alive, it feels good.

nonchalant olympics these days, man. do you know the kind of roar of beauty, pain and desire we get to wake up to everyday? its life; it is that serious! take a breath of fresh air, and reside in your body as much as you can; it's our duty to feel, if it wasn't we wouldn't be blessed with the ability to do so. learn to love it!

Cherish them. Thank them. Write them. Invite them to parts unknown. Share music, art, and food. Celebrate together; cry together. Share your hopes and fears; the mundane and extraordinary; the minutia and the barrenness of your life as it occurs. Savor every single moment you have together. And don’t forget to tell them you love them — to the point you feel silly. The quality of your friendships dictate the quality of your life.

By Anne Carson My favorite book: a second-hand favorite, as it came recommended as my close friend’s favorite. Then a favorite to another upon my recommendation. Maybe soon to be yours.  A quote:  “Depression is one of the unknown modes of being. There are no words for a world without a self, seen with impersonal clarity. All language can register is the slow return to oblivion we call health when imagination automatically recolors the landscape and habit blurs perception and language takes up its routine flourishes.”
