I’ve only started listening to Rose recently. Just found out she released a new album last month and I’m excited to listen to more! She puts a modern twist on traditional songs that my lil acoustic heart loves. Kinda makes me wanna put more effort into playing guitar and actually get good at it.

Caroline Rose is such a dynamic artist. This is the album that introduced me to her back in 2018 and I’ve been a huge fan ever since. While The Art of Forgetting is maybe her most personal album, and a personal favorite of mine, Loner is probably her most fun music to put on and dance.

I’d been vaguely aware of Scarlet & her music, but when KJ looked me in the eyes and told me it was some really special shit I knew I had some homework to do.
He was right— I’m now a Scarlet Rae fan. This song especially is infectious with the atmosphere it builds up and the softly sung melodies, and fuck, I love how those pianos at the beginning are swapped out for fuzzy guitars at the end. Definitely my kind of song.

someone mentioned tia blake on here like a week ago maybe, i’m so glad i actually took the time to listen to her. i never really listen to folk apart from a few tunes from tracy chapman and june mcdoom. i’ve spent all week listening and re-listening and yeah if most other folk albums are anything like this, i can say i’m falling in love with the genre.

I first shaved my head in 2017 because I wanted to do something bold with my body, something I had considered for 2 whole weeks before just doing it. Now, I haven’t cut my hair since November 2024 and my hair is in the pixie stage. When people, usually women, ask me about cutting my hair, I always tell them to do it at least once because it’s so liberating to reclaim your body in a very obvious but temporary way. It’s also nice to not worry about extensive care and maintenance. I’m not sure if I’m going to like having long hair again, but I’m going to give it another try.
