I went to a 2010s themed party and it was fun to reminisce. Remember Flappy Bird? Avicii? Nyan Cat? Those were the days.

Tell me yall remember… Donut Games was an app developer in the early iPhone days like probably 2005-2010 era. Rat on a scooter, cows in space, monkey flight????? These games went triple platinum on my iPod touch bruh. What I wouldn’t give to go back to those days…

Sometimes remembering hurts. Sometimes remembering helps. I recommend it anyway. Remember 2009? Remember narwhals, narwhals, swimmin' in the ocean? Remember Snape, Snape, Severus Snape. Snape, Snape, Severus Snape? Remember playing Nintendogs under your sheets on your DS on a rainy night in 2007 or playing Minecraft on a cool Autumn night while your parents fought downstairs in 2012? We can never go back, but we can try through simulation and emulation. Remember making images with Microsoft paint and word art and Kid Pix, you can use them again now! Try beating The Impossible Quiz , taking care of Nintendogs, creating a penguin, building a city, playing my personal favorite GameBoy Advance Game, or finding your own childhood games memories to play again using Internet Archive and other emulation services, tools and resources.

Ooh I am nostalgic over everything it's actually insane. I'm turning 20 this week 🎉 but I feel like a literal 14 year old lol. I've been getting nostalgic over games like Minecraft or deleted games I used to play on my iPad (RIP old toca boca games). Not even just the Minecraft game itself but the music and the worlds!! I was literally crying the other day when I was looking back at some of those ready-made worlds- especially the Christmas one!! And I've literally forgotten about it too until I saw it on tiktok :(

I'm writing an essay and I've come up with three antidotes to overconsumption. 1. Consume critically. I don't care how many books you read last year - how does your favourite author use literary devices to tell their story? How does your favourite film director create a mood? Figure this out. 2. Create anything. And I really mean anything. Bake a cake, write an essay, knit a scarf. This is probably the best antidote to overconsumption because it preoccupies you, but it also helps develop some respect for what it takes to do the things that you consume. 3. Connect with people. It doesn't need to be that deep. DM your favourite content creator that you like their stuff. Comment on people's PI.FYI recs. If you enjoy consuming another person's content, letting them know is just a nice thing to do (and helps avoid parasocial relationships).

Last Monday I took a day off work (paid!) to go to the cinema with my friend and watch three films all in one go - A Complete Unknown, Babygirl and Nosferatu. We went out for coffees and dinner between films, but it was fun to make an outing of it while catching up on the newest films. Try and space out the screenings strategically so you don’t end up spending 12 hours out and about like we did.

They feel like a sweet treat. I also hate swallowing pills, so it's this or nothing.
