Missing out on social media can be a real gift — both for yourself and for others. you’ll spare yourself the suffering and alienation social media induces (which imo outweighs any benefit) and also your friends will get to tell you about whatever memes or crazy shit people are up to that you need to know about. it’s a free curatorial exercise for them there’s a real charm in saying ”i don’t know about that i haven’t heard of that”

I've never thought about missing out in this light...I conditioned myself into thinking that I should be up to date with anything and everything going on right now and that not knowing makes me a boring person who lives under a rock. I now understand that basing interactions off of social media makes whatever relationship you are attempting to sustain very dull and I am actively working on bettering pre-existing connections and nurturing new ones that are more tangible world-based

PI is different because you’re not trying to impress anyone or present a carefully crafted persona. You can be away from this site for days or weeks and come back when you’re in the mood. You won’t miss out on anything viral or some big news. That said, if you don’t need this in your life, go free!

I love not being in the know. I feel like an alien when I’m with friends and they talk about Instagram and tik tok trends. It’s such a relief and a pleasure to be out of the loop

Most of the time someone is going to tell me the latest news, or meme, or they're going to show me their social media feed, and i realize that after a while of not digging into things and just letting the information come to me that i was probably more in the know of what was going on then when i was constantly keeping up with it and searching for it And i found the connection of letting people share these things with me gave way to more authentic social relationships, as a conversation was able to be had. I didn't know about something, they did, they told me, i asked questions, we laughed as i didn't get it or they explained some intricate back story as to why something came to be and we just talked. Which i would have missed out on if i knew the same thing they did And we'd go back to scrolling.

i ran into my ex on the sidewalk this weekend and when he saw me he went (seemingly by instinct) “ahhh! no!”

Someone must lose, and losing deliciously is a service to those who must bear witness. Sportsmanship is bankrupt. Lose well – pitch a fit, go bald, step on your own glasses, spill wine, punch a wall, hurl accusations, drink and drive, lose custody, develop a cocaine habit. Someone must lose. You must lose.

Saw the restoration of Paris, Texas last year in theaters and it was so special to share it with 3 of my friends who hadn’t seen it before. I dressed up as Jane in the sweater i made (took this picture before i wove the ends in…)
