šthe truth of the matter is cats have always been better than dogs but moving to ny has made me dislike dogs as a whole. i still think theyre cute on an individual level and i like my friend's dogs, but not everyone needs a dog, especially since nobody wants to take responsibility for them. i feel like in other places (or at least in ct) there's a culture of shame around being an irresponsible dog owner. ive seen people get lambasted for having a poorly trained dog or for not picking up after them but it seems as though you cant do that here without being an evil bitch who hates animals. once i was sitting in the park and out of nowhere this huge dog knocked me over and started licking my face. i was totally skeeved out but the dog's owner was just like "sorry :P she's playful" like hello? what if i were crazy allergic or old as fuck? your irresponsibility could hurt someone! if you want a furry domestic terrorist, get a cat so it's your problem and not the world's.

On the one hand Iāve never hated a cat and I feel like I can get along with any of them or tame any stray/shy cat that I come across with time. I love how low-maintenance they are. I tend to prefer more gregarious dog-like cats, especially if theyāre long-haired.
I love a codependent clingy petā¦ itās rarer for cats to be like that but itās a lot more common in dogs, which is why I got one after losing the best cat Iāve ever had in my life.
I love that having a dog is a LIFESTYLE and requires so much work because it forces me to structure my day around it but without the all-consuming nature of having a child? itās kind of like having a little horse with the way you need to give them exercise, enrichment, and training. I enjoy playing zookeeper I guess. And itās fun the way you can take them outside!! I used to have a cat who liked going out on a leash and harness but Bunny is not that type of girl.
Itās a lot more likely for me to not like a dog than a cat and there are so many kinds of dogs I donāt really vibe with or connect to. But at the same time the fact that I can tolerate any dogs at all (especially my own monster Benny) makes me kind of a dog person? I donāt know I canāt answer this!!!

idk how i came across this in my daily wikipedia surfs, but something about this painting just amuses me so much.
my first impression was this looks fairly modern in a way, possibly because of the composition and how she made her features so light and bouncy. it oddly made me think of disney when i looked for longer. then i see it was made in 1909 š
this painting can transcend times and i wouldnāt truly know when it was made unless i looked more closely at the objects around the subject. but even that can be a stretch as vintage items can be popular amongst anyone and they can just have their vanity setup look like this.
i tried looking for photographs of her online but alas nothing came up with certainty.

i saw something on here a day ago about how fireflies are disappearing and lightly catastrophized the scenario. but then as i regulated myself i looked up an article lightly extinguishing my concerns.
so as i look at the copious little flickers out my window, ill be glad to tell you that while firefly populations are decreasing, some firefly species are adapting to new environments trying to prosper and evolve. big causes for their decline are obvi climate change, urbanization, and light pollution. a simple way for you to not make things bad for the fireflies in your area is to not use pesticides on your lawns if you have them. they spend most of their lives in the ground so it starts at the soil.
additionally, every article i see with the salacious title about ālast generation to see firefliesā seems to be blocking out a lot of things about current firefly populations. most of the fireflies on the IUCN red list they keep mentioning are marked vulnerable or least concern. so there is a possibility a species or more of fireflies may disappear, but all of them i donāt think so.
