i was in mumbai for the last few days and happened across the library in the gandhi house. my hosts didnt want to stay too long in the room, but i could have spent hours. i dont know if iโd ever seen a library for a famous individual before - i think (especially here in the states) we forget the impact books have on peopleโs life and philosophy, and i think it needs to be remembered and celebrated more. they make an individual, and having libraries of illuminating people is something really special.

man, libraries ROCK !!!! what do you mean i can just chill here in this chair... in this warm building with high ceilings... all of these shelves full of delights like graphic novels and how to speak another language... and then i can take my favourite books home... FOR FREE ?!?! i am so happy i left the house to go to the library today

i meanโฆ the size and quality of libraries there are absolutely amazing. just spent an hour surfing through archives looking for some new non-fiction readings.

All of them but the Stephen A. Shwarzman building has a special place in my heart.
When I did my new york residency I spent so much time in the library. I was so broke and it was free and I could spend hours in the presence of other people without any obligation of actually socialising. Every trip I would go to the cafe and buy an espresso, plan my research in the cafe, wander around the gift shop planning what I would eventually buy to take people home, then go into a reading room to plan artworks and learn. The Treasures exhibition was so beautiful (I cried when I saw the real life Winnie the Pooh). Really feels like a peaceful place to sit and think or wander around. I genuinely think about how much I miss my trips there near daily.

IM ALMOST DONE WITH MY THESIS AHHHH. I have over 140 citations for the 45 pages, and will likely have a bibliography over 200 sources. due in 2 days but still so much to do actually gonna die.
